A real pilgrimage

We have followed the evidence of horses for many days on the track and came across the team in a small town just before Arzacq-Arrazignett. Mum, Dad and Sunshine started their trip from Le Puy en Velay in mid July and expect to be on the Way for 5 months.

From Aragnon

We will get to St John PDP on the 1st September. We abandoned the sections in the last few

days in order to average the k. for each daily walk. This meant that the sections took 4 days instead

of 3 but we avoided consecutive walks of 34,29 and 29. it has meant that we have stayed at two farm

Gites and a small town as the photos show. This leaves us with 4 shortish walks to finish.

At the duck gite I ate a bottle of the duck in haricot beans for lunch - see photo - then I surprised the

farmer by buying another bottle for dinner. The duck was very rich and fatty but nice. We are about

to have dinner at our farm gite here in Argagnon. If duck is on the menu I will dodge it.

Who needs a washing machine?

La Ferme de Marsan

We arrived at this place to be greeted as Tim and Geoff from Australie and shown to our room in an upmarket gite. It is normal that these Gites offer dinner when out of town which is what we were expecting. Instead we were very quickly ushered in a small storeroom come shop and asked what we wanted for dinner?! They farm their own ducks and had bottled duck with Harricoat beans and very little else!

After some language help from another guest we purchased our selections and went about the afternoon chores. These photos will summarise......

Overnight in Aire sur l'Adour

We have been having some difficulty booking accommodation in the gites - not at all sure why. The upshot for here through the Tourist info people in Nagaro was a cabin at the Camping Park beside the River. With little other choice we said fine. Well here we are and pleased to leave early the next morning!

Walking to Aire sur l'Adour

Firstly it was 28 Km. and we find that quite a challenge - but here are a few interesting photos......

L'Arbladoise Gite just South of Nagaro

Christian was an excellent host at this up-market Gite where dinner was Zucchini and Potato soup followed by casseroled pork and rice. The following morning a good breakfast of cereal, bread ( of course ) coffee, orange juice and yoghurt provided a good startThese photos summarise.....
